yeah I was out today trialling a new XS for one of our customers. Really is quite a good boat.....Lovely Hull designed by the inimitable Steve Baker

I saw the two ribs coming back to Southampton. they both live on the Itchen. One was a Ocean Cabin rib and the other a Pascoe SR9 with twing Opi 200 XS's. I was looking at this in the yard and I think it's the best rigged Rib I've seen.

I noticed the odd liner or three out there today also

As in an XS RIB Stu? And Steve Baker of Phantom fame?

I am unsure as to who actually makes the XS boats but I don't hink that SB or Trio mouldings have been involved in the project.

The phantom rib is made by Trio Moulding (who own the rights) and is very well built.

there is something nice about the XS it's definitely built with experiene but it's a functional boat as opposed to an elegant one

Ok got you,
thats what I like about the XS range, I tend to like more offshore / commercial looking RIBs, although I can't stretch to an XS at the moment. There is alot of secrecy surrounding the builder of the XS boats, although it looks like Richard B knows, Ribnets resident gossip

All depends on how you define the term "build"... AFAIK Barnet Marine fit them out. When the new "XS" trademark was launched, Lawrence Lock went to great length to obsfurcate the identity of who laminated the XS hulls. I don't know who that is, or was, but I have a very, very strong suspicion!

Fair enough, I knew that Barnet fitted them out and sold them, I have heard various rumours as to the laminators some even suggesting Sunseeker! I guess whoever it is wants to keep it under wraps, I ve looked at a few at boat shows and the quality seems to be there so I would proabably just accept that your never going to know.

Identity of xs hull maker??

I would never buy a boat unless I knew the full pedigree as when you buy a Rib its a big deal how it holds together etc etc, therefore I am amazed that nobody seems to know, as I would only buy If i knew.

Somebody must have pushed this question, surely. I would be interested to find out. Somebody here must be going through the buying process so why not insist??

I suspect that your mate thought that Sunseeker made an XS because of this.
