We saw that wrecked RIB when we were on Inchmurrin first week of August. Absolutely unbelievable state - tubes falling to bits and various bits of tape and foam holding it together. Bizarre thing is that it had quite a decent Yamaha 4 stroke on it.
A few days after seeing it tied up at the jetty, we saw it towing a waterskier, so obviously someone is still using it.
Inhmurrin (as recommended by Hadd) is a great place and thoroughly worth a visit. Superb boating. Couldn't believe how quiet the Loch was, lots of islands where you're free to land, free moorings at the local jetties. Very different from the south coast. Long tow up and back but definitely worth it.
Picture of our RIB at Inchmurrin jetty and then stopped at an isolated beach further up the Loch.

The funny thing is most "locals" would consider Loch Lomond quite busy. Whilst I like Loch Lomond, if you head another hour or two north west then you could experience proper tranquility in even more impressive geography without the "bussed in tourist feel". Even the extensive Firth of Clyde and all its associated sea lochs offers potentially as good Ribbing (certainly for larger ribs which could "bore" of the loch in a few days) with no extra travel time for those coming from "down south".
Not that I am trying to discourage anyone from exploring Loch Lomond.

I think we spotted the same rib when we were there in June, probably on the same jetty!
Loch Lomond is excellent for a boating hoilday, miles of loch with no other boats, plenty of places to stop, even a few pubs to visit, fuel on the water so no messing with jerry cans, and best part is virtually no shops, what more could you want!! We've been going for best part of 30 years and never had a bad holiday, just remember to takes clothes for what ever the weather does and you can't beat it. And the midges can't keep up with you, so no need to worry about them!!
