Inland Powerboat Site

Anyone know of a lake within striking distance of North London not Windemere!) where we could launch a 6.5m RIB and play with water skis, donuts, big yellow inflatable bananas etc.

Idea is for my dive club to organise a picnic / barbeque day, where we can also play in the water.

The ideal place (if they still do it) is Wyboston Lakes. Wyboston is up the A1 about 10 miles north of Stevenage and has a lake for own craft plus a waterski club too.

Paul (fancy meeting you here!),

Wyboston Lakes "do not allow any private launch on our lakes, therefore can not help".

Any other suggestions, anyone?

Inland lake

We use to go to a gravel pit near Blackbushe in Surrey it was owned by Russell Powerboats ,not sure if they exist but worth a try . It was quite small but OK if you were alone midweek . We used it for a staff day out and all had a great time .

Just checked and they are ! 01252 877337 http://www.russellpowerboats.co.uk/watersports.htm

Good luck

Hi, indeed a small place - certainly both those RIBs made me realise it was you guys.

Wyboston certainly used to do it, are they being economic with the truth and what you need to be is a member or something to use the lake - might be worth asking re joining.

There is a lake (should have thought of this one before) over your way near Roydon. Its directly alongside the Lee & Stort and I think abuts a caravan park. One of the other dive clubs round you has access to a private lake - would it have been Harlow Diver perhaps - do you know them and are dive clubs friendly like that?

The other place out west London is near Marlow and is on the road between Marlow & Burnham Green (Westhorpe Waterski lake i think)

Do admit these were a while ago in my skiing days!!

Good luck
