Bruce, do you have any qualifications (PB2 or, preferably, Advanced PB) and if so, did you tell them?

It does sound about right though, for about £20k of cover, IMHO.

BTW, if you haven't already done so, you may want to check that the 'months in commission' and 'cruising area' are what you want. Our insurance covers us for 12 months in commission and channel cruising from Brest to Elbe. You may not think you need this but many people find they want to go further and further afield once they've 'done' the Solent & south coast.

I have PB2. Did someone post some while back that BIBOA membership gets zou a quote reduction? Who with and why?

Why not a negotiated deal for RIBnet members?

Bruce, Gingercoastie said he could get a reduction with BIBOA membership: http://www.rib.net/forum/showthread....4499#post54499

I assume it's 'cos you are perceived as being a 'responsible' RIBber, who cruises in company with safety in mind, etc. Or maybe it's just down to some negotiation by a BIBOA bigwig!!

Local IRB driver told me yesterday that an RNLI safety check can get a discount on your insurance. Anyone tried this?
