Insurance for Events

Thinking of offering free "tickets" for a ride out in Farfetched to the Needles and somewhere for lunch in return for people effectively making a donation to local mental health charity via their raffle or auction. I would pay all the costs. Have MCA approval. Not coded, not commercially endorsed advanced. Me plus 4 guests. My insurer has demaded max 25knots monitored by a 'tracker'. Kind of misses the point.

Ant ideas for a more accommodating and understanding insurer?

You could try Mercia Marine in Malvern, but I’m guessing that the insurance industry is a tad twitchy, due to the recent tragedies at the hands of so called “professionals”.

God loves a Tryer. Anyone reading this thread should have a read through Bruce's previous wrangling with the MCA regarding paying passengers on his un-coded RIB. This scenario is obviously a little different and the MCA are satisfied that it is not "commercial". The Insurer is not so happy, I would ASSUME because the scenario is similar to commercial - strangers out for a run on a RIB in exchange for a cash donation. Their decision to cap speed at 25kts is typical of a commercial policy stipulation - and that's because risk of injury is perceived as being much higher as speed increases. "Kind of misses the point" in the OP suggests a "need for speed" and a boat load of strangers. Insurers unsurprisingly unhappy about that!

Ahhh! I hadn't realised that we've been here before, thought it rang a bell.

Just trying to help the charity. Insurer requires I install a tracker. UNDER 25 knots with a tracker means sticking to water speed of max 20 in the Solent given tides. That is far from ideal as she kind of is between planing and displacing at that speed...... Quite happy with 30 but 25 is not ideal.......
