....Blimey ... that is SOME Fuel saving!
Especially if you factor in the Oil.

It's a shed full, dood. Apparently, Yanmar lathed every 6LP they ever made (God help us, they made far too many) and they shaved off any torque that occurred below 2500rpm. Now, torque isn't an easy thing to store so they had to build a very large centrifuge....

Just maybe our Pikey should think of amending his rule #3...??
..and substitute ""Pork...for "Torque!"

Seen 7 of them little while ago brand new in box somewhere in Scotland, perhaps it is one of those!

I've got a soft spot for these, tried to buy one new many years ago, I think it was about 4k at time.

Also partial to a mercury blueband or tower of power. Had a peach of a mercury 50 blueband many years ago, the days of this simplicity are long gone. Nothing says going boating like the first smell of an old 2 stroke waking up in morning.

I don't anyone who has been Power Boating for years who hasn't fond memories of the Yam (and other 2strokes)...I had a Sixty Yam on an old Flatacraft which was looking back, pretty much abused!....It NEVER missed a beat!..I've travelled all over the world and seen them held together with Gaffer Tape and Condensed Salt ...still giving good service.
In Tobago I saw a pile of mainly Yam Patrts the size of a Transit ,and asked the Guy if that was his Scrap Heap?..His reply...
"Man!... tere's FIVE or SIX..GOOD! engines in that Heap!"

Just throwing this in there...my Honda bf 90 is over 20 yrs old . It has a cam driven twin fuel pumps and four carbs. No electronics. It always gets me home and sips juice, but it's not in the Yam 90 league!. It weighs a ton.I think there's a sweet spot when it comes to owning modern outboards. The mechanical side of things are generally well sorted these days. Its the sensors and fuel injectors that are the weakness. People talk about "hidden fuel filters". To genuinely service a ten year old out board is probably a 2 day job...which the punter won't pay for! Nik
