Interesting day to expore
Well today I actually managed to get my RIB out for the first since I bought it! Chilly start but cloudless and only a whiff of a breeze. I launched without a problem or so I thought until I realised I had forgotten to remove the light board??? What amazed me it still works.
We set our sites on Fowey which is 21 miles from Falmouth where I launched. We had a smooth ride and I was very impressed with the ride. We stopped at Gull rock a sharks fin lump of rock sticking straight up 30m. I have posted a couple of photos below.
The rest of the way was fairly smooth apart from some small tide races around the Dodman with the big spring tide.
We stayed in Fowey and beached at one of the local coves for lunch and until the tide turned. Now the forecast was for a max force 3 setting in from the SW. Well when we started coming back at around 4pm the sea was not playing ball with a short steep 1m wind swell with bigger waves every few moments and a scene of dancing white caps. My Zodiac pro managed OK but after slamming a couple of waves my wife ordered me to slow down!!!!
It took 1hr to go there and 2hrs to get back. All in all a good day out with a few challenging moments to practice in.
