Introducing 'Alca Torda' (it's Finished!)
After almost 12 months we have finally finished the rebuild of our Pacific Jet RIB.... Its been a lot of fun, very frustrating at times.....but def worth it......she looks great (if I do say so myself).....
There is a thread kicking about with some progress shots, but she has been comprehensively rebuilt including an engine /Jet drive overhaul, reconditioned sponsons, new deck......it goes on (and on and on.....and on ).......
She had a succesful survey /coding inspection today as Duncan ('Searider' on here) is down with us.....many thanks Dunc.....sorry about the weather
Would we do it again? Yes ..... In fact we will be getting going on the Atlantic 21 project soon......when we've had a bit of a break from late nights in the workshop and the children start calling me Daddy again
We've got a busy week on charter, working away.....so she'll probably have to wait until next weekend for a dip......

Thanks Don't tend to get around there unless we are working that way.....Did some tidal flow /accoustic stuff as well as some filming work there a little while ago.....and have a water sampling run through week after next, but pretty sporadic tbh....

Not super fast by any means....35 knots I reckon.....but as you say....built like the proverbial outhouse and should take a decent sea

Nice looking bit of kit there fella. 35kts is nothing to be ashamed of on a jet that size/weight. I especially like what you did with the liferaft - smartypants.
Any chance of a better photy of that angle?
PS: Nice name again. If you get a Vipermax, you should name it after the Thrush

For Willk..... We merely used what was there but by mounting the raft quite far up the bracket means we still have room for an auxilliary (have a sliding bracket which fits the rails) if we want /get to do a Western Isles distillery tour one day

Thanks! Its a 6LY2a STP (440HP version).......35 Knots is what the Met used to get from her, the impellor was recently retipped, the lining has been done etc so she should be good for it. That said, the engine has just been apart so we'll be taking it easy for a little while......
