Introducing my new RIB - Just Looking

Well, got my new (and 1st) RIB; completed 3 weeks early . Ribcraft 5.85m, 4 jockey seats with winged backrests, 'Captain's console' with front seating and storage, towing A-frame, 140 O/B, 180l under floor tank, boarding ladder and standard electrics.

Have taken a few basic pictures, but was too busy trying her out on the water; better photos to follow.

Just had her maiden voyage so far; one 2 hr trip on the river at speeds < 5 kts, but was good to practice launch / recovery in benign conditions. Also, allowed us to get past the 1st 2 hrs of new engine run-in without temptation of selecting the go-faster lever. 4000rpm next thereafter occasional selection of high speed till 10hr point is passed, then .........horrah

Sea trial this weekend

Looking forward to joining some of the Ribbing cruises later in the year; especially hoping to join the Alderney push.

Steve

Nice looking boat. You won't be disapointed with a Ribcraft; I have a smaller one and love it.

Hi Steve,

Good looking boat. Welcome to the world of Ribcraft owners! Nice layout - looks similar to IBWET's boat Raven.

I'm sure you'll have great fun when you get to open the throttle.

I like the new RIBCRAFT seats. Both wingbacks and cushions. Looks a nice setup.

I love the name. Is that what you told your wife you were doing?

Yes, whenever she sees me eyeing up new (sometimes expensive) toys I get the warning "you're not having one of these ".
"I am Just Looking " is my innocent reply. I have used this quote lots over the years usually folllowed by a purchase of said toy a few months later with accompanied justification as to why it is essential.

Also during our cruising around we will be "Just Looking" at the scenery.

Steve

Nice looking setup - great to see someone running an engine in properly - even though modern engines don't need as much it still doesn't hurt to babay them - it will pay dividends in the long run!!!

Steve
If that could incorporate a bit of 'just looking' at little harbour shops and restaurants in little ports en route then that tactic could be a big success

Great looking boat. Congratulations!
