Ireland - Club Powerboat.ie Forums

Hi folks,

Firstly, many thanks to John Kennet for graciously allowing me a plug for Club Powerboat.ie aimed at the Irish members of RIB.Net and also any of you in the UK with an interest in boating over here at some stage.

A few months ago, the Irish members in particular of RIB Net were discussing the "variable" and inventive nature of Insurance Premiums over here.

One of the points that came out of that discussion was that in Ireland, although motor boating is quite popular ( 5000 boats of over 15hp registered on the river Shannon alone ), Our NGB the ISA is unlike the RYA, primarily concerned with sailing clubs. There really is no one umbrella that Powerboaters, Ribsters, Barge drivers, PWC ers etc etc can unite under for areas of common interest and protection....

So.... We invite you to a sneak preview of Club Powerboat.ie. www.powerboat.ie/forums

The site is partially live with just the ( Undressed ) forums active. The forums will look a little bit more colourful when launched!

The rest of the site www.powerboat.ie for Club Powerboat.ie is hidden while under development but will be up and running in a few weeks.

Feel free to join up and post on the forums in the interim and please invite your friends to join too !

I’d like to try and have the nucleus of a forum membership established when the whole Club Powerboat.ie site goes live officially in a few weeks.

As always , suggestions on how to improve are most welcome to stuart@powerboat.ie . ( Many thanks already to John Kennet for his extremely valuable technical advice today !) .

We can also add additional categories and even sub categories in the forum on demand.

Lough Ree Power Boat Schools website has now moved to www.powerboat.org and can be contacted at courses@powerboat.org

Kind regards,

Stuart

Not strictly RIBs, but the following might be of interest to those of you planning to sample the brilliant cruising areas on Ireland's West Coast !

A group of Motor Cruisers from here on the river Shannon ventured 150 miles down stream through the 100 foot drop lock at Ardnacrusha power station and headed out the Shannon estuary and turned south for the Kerry coast.

The entire South and Irish West coast provides amazing RIB Cruising Waters with some of the nicest coastal towns including my own original home town of Kinsale !

Here are some pics of the Motor cruise courtesy of Noel Griffin of IWAI and Club Powerboat.ie ! http://www.griffinsoft.com/dingle .

Naturally, if any of our UK based friends plan on coming across at any time, give us a shout at the planning stage and we'll organise a bit of Craic and see what doors we can open for you.

Best wishes,

Stuart

Hi folks ! Just thought I give you all a quick update on Club Powerboat.ie

We are still in pre official launch phase....waiting for some additional software for the main site.

We have nearly 70 members already from a broad spectrum of powered craft in Ireland... Strangely..very few Rib drivers yet ..!

Here's a look at our new pennant too !
