Possibly in my other thread trying to identify an old outboard I was going to put on it?
What do you think?

Price doesn't look too bad if tubes are ok, but difficult to tell from the photo if they have much life left. However the front section of tubes have had extra rubbing strake added and makes you think it was half a job as they stop half way down the boat.
Inside it needs a new/newer console ~(£100-£200ish) and the grp is very faded.
No doubt needs work on the outside of the hull even if only lots of scrubbing! Transom looks ok but is also worth a close look!
Trailer looks like it needs some work as the front section doesn't really fit at present and isn't supporting the keel. The bunks look tired and quite short, one of the bearings looks like its chucked grease out all over the tyre, so probably needs work & the mudguards are knackered too.
I've just paid £1220 for a brand new trailer and good hull/tubes sr4 (just add water condition), and also £800 for a hull only (fair tubes/ scruffy hull). The first was probably under priced and the second over priced! So on balance I'd suggest offering something less than the asking price for this one - personally I wouldn't want to pay more than £750 - £800 but only if the tubes are in useable/fixable condition. They do keep coming up and sometimes its worth waiting for the next one!

Thanks a million for that, and for pointing out one or two things I might have overlooked.
I kinda like the look of the rubbing strakes, looks kinda 'functional' in a tug boat sort of way!
I've priced up mudguards and they look to be no more than 20 a side, same for bearings, a quick google shows trailer rollers about a tenner so 100 could probobly sort out that, and to be fair I wont be towing it anywhere for a while after getting it anyway.
Any other advise/opinions most welcome!

It'll want new valves in the not too distant as well-those valves are the old black rubber ones from the early 70s.

3 valves. What's currently fitted are Avon A4 valves, which would need completely removing and repalcing with A7 B7 or C7 type valves.
I'd agree with Whisper. That does look like a can of worms.

Yeah I had seen that one and was watching it on ebay, damn being in Ireland!
It is is nice, must be the one sailmaker got his hands on! I suppose given the price of a console, at around 200 quid, I should be expecting something even a little better for the money he's asking.
Think i'll have to hope he wants it gone and make an offer.... I was initially thinking the asking price was OK so very much appreciate the input.
Anyone else before I go and see it?

So I guess it's a bit of you pays your money n you makes your choice!! I think £1000 is a bit steep if you've got to spend money on the tubes, sort a console n seat, probably sort the trailer as well....... If I were you I'd add up how much you need to spend to get it how you want before you go any further, but on the other hand some of us like the challenge

I picked up the sr4 that whisper mentions above. Nice boat (for a 1994 boat) - dirty underneath but most of it's coming off! Pretty much cosmetic work. Tubes are original & pretty good although I shall replace the lifeline & paddle stowage patches and probably fits wear patches to some of the tops of the tubes. May also replace some of the tube seam tapes where they have worn out.
Plugged a few unused holes in the transom yesterday and will do some very minor gelcoat work to finish off the transom. Then fit engine (Tohatsu 40) & off we go.
Then over the winter will probably have a go at the very minor chips/dings to the hull - and possibly get rid of a very thin partial anti-foul coat & flowcoat it.

I sent the guy an email saying to him that if he wasnt interested in offers i was withdrawing my interest. i suppose its certainley not going to get any better without some work, and i can tell that just from the photos, so expect it uncover one or two other issues perhaps dodgy patches or tubes on their last legs.

I reckon your best bet is to hop on a ferry and buy a complete boat over this side of the water given what you've said about prices in NI.

Agreed, sold that Crrc to someone in NI. He got the ferry over and drove down to Swindon to collect it

Did you buy this boat off me? Or did the guy that bought it from me recently sell it on quickly? I put it with that trailer. Good boat!

USED AVON SEARIDER SR 4 M Rib Rescue Boat Inflatable YAMAHA F 40 hp Trailer No2 | eBay
This one looks like a good price. Just needs a bit of tidying. Also worth noting that you can get boats on trailers taken across the Irish sea on their own - so if you could get your new purchase delivered to the docks, you could meet it the other end.

Great advice above. I'd bide your time; Seariders are a bit like buses and there is always another one round the corner. Far better to wait for a nice original and well looked after one than tart up an old dog. It will cost less and you'll have a better boat at the end of it with easier and higher re-sale.
As Nos says come over to the mainland for lots of choice. As prices are at a premium in NI you'll benefit come resale time and recoup any travelling costs. And resale will happen one day - not sure there are many regulars on here who have only had one boat and stuck with it.
