Is this a good RIB?

It seems to be a nice package, many gadgets and the engine started/worked perfectly when I went to view the boat.

It was fairly clean but just wanted to know your opinion?

Looks good from what can be seen on e-bay and with the video. If you look under their other videos you can see the boat being used on the Thames in February.

Of course no one can really tell what its like from the photos and if your concerned then see if you can get someone independant to have a look over it for you if your not 100%.

They say they have the service manual for the engine with each year stamped which is a bonus. Gives you a bit more piece of mind.

If you have tested everything and they work then Yes.

The good thing about these ribs is that they have had their depreciation whilst giving a good ride.

The current bid is £4k, if I was going to buy it, I would have offered something up to £7k at max.

Pretty sure that has been on ebay a couple of times in the last month or so - might have been a sale that fell through, but might be worth checking...

If this is a Humber Assault, then it is worth taking on board that they are very slappy in any kind of sea. Fine for the inner Estuary, not so fine in 2-3 foot waves.

I'm pretty sure it's been on before, I think I remember looking at it. The blacked out faces in the pics seem familiar.

yes, I think that I have seen it come up at least once if not twice previously - the blacked out faces - and the way the text is spaced out...

it was originally on as a classified ad which didn't sell at £5,500 so prob. genuine reasons...

The seller told me that last week's sale was cancelled as it was a classified advert on Ebay and the buyer offered him £5500, he accepted it and then the buyer emailed him that he had to buy a rib urgently.

He actually showed me the message sent by the buyer on Ebay, so I know he was prepared to give it for £5500.

Engine and also value..

Colour scheme on engine suggests it is about 1991 vintage so quite an old engine.. I have a 5.4m searider with a 90hp yam of 1992 vintage and only paid £2500 for it.. and runs very well.. so I think the humber is overpriced, but sometimes boats and engines get more than you think and sometimes less.

Hard to understand prices.

I've just sold a 1 owner 2004 Humber assault 5.3 package with brand new trailer and a 2004 Tohatsu 90hp TLDI low pressure 2 stroke (low emissions like the 4 strokes) for £5,500 where others which are 15 years older are fetching similar money!! Funny old Market.

In my very humble opinion, anything over £4k seems a lot of money to me, for an old boat and a very old engine. Have you taken a look on the boatsandoutboards website where you can search by category (ribs) and price (so it fits with your buget). Remember, if you have £5k to spend, start looking at boats for £6k, perhaps £6500 as it's a buyers market, not a sellers market - don't be afraid to put in a cheeky offer, you never know a sellers circumstances. Good Luck........
