I don't know where you you got that the Americans told you don't do it (I can't see where everyone is from on the mobile app) but just do it and be light on the throttle (and wear the kill cord!)

Not sure on centimeters, but I am chunky. I am also very handsome and I have perfect teeth; attributes I am certain you lack. If you want to start hazing, I have no problem leaving. I am only here for friendship and information, thank you.

I'd say you'll have loads a fun with that power on such a light rig, which could easily bounce you out in a small chop, so wearing kill cord is essential to insure continued fun, I overpowered a similar size sib with 25hp and that was scary but 15hp should be cool.

I am going to disregard the advice of everyone else and go with dragonhawk. Thank you all for your well-meaning input. I am also going to disregard the American 's advise against having a 15 hp. I am not tempting fate, and I will be careful when throttling, but ejecting 250 pounds from a forward seat will take one hell of a 15 hp engine.

Sorry dude, but I'm a real looker, so much for your guesswork

That as really friendly hazing (in among giving you good advice, IMO) - we call it banter and there's quite a bit of it on here. Generally (unless you're from Yorkshire) it's meant well and just a bit of fun. I'd suggest you stay and enjoy the forum, but grow a thicker skin

Looks like I stepped into a salty forum. I only came in for a bit of advice, got it, and I appreciate. Thanks to those who helped and I will see the rest when I am finished with their mothers.

The issues here are, is it safe and is it legal ?

Over this side of the pond it would be legal, however as mentioned your insurance company may decline a claim if you were not up front with them.

Is it safe ? In general and with care I would agree with the above comments, yes it will be fine. The information you have about 2 strokes is pretty much correct, most 9.9/10hp outboards are exactly the same block and weight as the 15hp. So if you are buying a Yamaha/Mariner/Mercury the 10's are the same as the 15's.

I had a mad moment this summer with my 2.8m air floor tender and stuck a 25hp on it, so far i'm not dead

Take it easy, learn the limits of the boat and don't be afraid to back off and make sure the boat is always correctly inflated.

Had a look on Youtube and found a few prats with seriously over powered boats, this one made me laugh and cringe in equal measures. Remember its only a Sib and he's got a much larger and heavier 4 stroke 25hp on it.

I have never referred another to the Urban Dictionary as a means of definition, but it seems there are a few "Short Sleeved Geniuses" here that fit the monicker I created.

Urban Dictionary: Short-Sleeved Genius

Nice video! But, I especially like the comment warning me against their mother.

Oi, any more of that & I'm going to have to scweam "wacist"! Typical, one rule for them, one rule for us

Briantroy, welcome to Ribnet, kick back & chill a little dude enjoy the banter & piss taking, it's our way of delivering (sometimes) serious info in a light hearted wrapper. Stick around for a year or 2 & you might get the hang of it (see what I did there? never mind, give it time)
