why does the gearbox not fit properly? or is that all part of the modified exhaust?

I've a video of this boat Ed and it only danced around really gunning it, upto 45 knots was ok. The rest was lively

At least that was my experience of it 3 years ago, when it was in top running order. I seem to remember at least one of the eBay adverts since then (out of maybe 15 its had, through about 5 owners) sell the engine as needing repair. I'm guessing its all sorted now, based on the current description.

Looking at the pics the distance between the deck and the tops of the tubes looks very shallow, it must be like sitting on a plank doing 50 knots. Terrifying.. !

If it's the RIB trader that works out of the old Daedelus site then I wouldn't buy it! We enquired about a RIB from him and he told us that it had a deposit paid on it but if we paid higher he would fob the other buyer off! When we said that was a bit off we were told "it's not sold til the full money is paid"! He emailed us the following day to say the buyer had pulled out. "Oh well" was our reply.

I haven't even followed the link but I guess its the yellow hard nosed one with the merc V6 on the back ?
The engine allegedly has a racing mid section with a different gearbox and a power head off another different engine and with a fake alien cowl, according the guys that know on the boat mad forum !
Its gonna go like stink though.
I very nearly bought it one of the times it was for sale ,it was 3.5k then.
I bottled it when I realised the engine was a bitza.

Does it keep getting bought and sold, or is just being relisted. Must be up for the "most owned" RIB soon.

That's the same photos on the Daedelus site at Lee On Solent so I'd guess it's been relisted by the same company.

Don't all outboards have "straight through exhausts" or am I being particularly thick?!

Theres an ex lifeboat forum on another web site with a few members the ones that actually built or fitted out rnli Atlantic 21s ect ,
Looks like the conclusion is that its an Atlantic "college " designed / built one rather than an actual rnli one, as the rnli bought the design from atlantic college for the nominal sum of £1 many years ago .
