Codders - you have taken a lot of stick on this forum some of which was probably deserved but an awful lot of it probably not !!!
So don't take this the wrong way - I'm not trying to trick you or take the piss or anything, I'm genuinely curious.
What boat have you ordered and when are you getting it. - You were waiting for your boat when I first came on this forum - I have since bought a boat, used it for a few months, sold it, ordered a new one, waited 10 long weeks for it and I finally get it on Thursday. (2 more days) so yours has to be the longest boat build in the history of mankind.
It must be some boat

Me too - I am fascinated and not driven by a desire to ridicule. I believe it was a Prosport you have ordered. Codders, you have us in such suspense... Indeed, in the latter stages of your order I discovered rib.net, found a boat, bought it and have had some fun on the Solent (apart from the initial launch - and thank god it was too early for many to witness).
From what you have said it will be a well kitted out beast - if it does indeed exist.

For the last time
Prosport 8.8m rib with Suzuki DT 225 efi(last of them) fitted to a 10" setback transom jack. 15hp Suzuki aux.
Seating for 12 - some of it removable to make more deck space when needed.
Teak decks
Alpine Blue tubes
Raymarine c80 with fishfinder
Navman 3100 fuel computer
Raymarine 54e vhf
Icom M1V hand held
etc etc etc
Should have been ready a while ago!!! Engine and jack etc are on - electronics nearly all finished so shouldn't be much longer!!!
Stupid time of year to take delivery of a boat though!!!

Out of interest, why did you choose to fit a transom jack?
And is it electric or a manual one? Do you need a low water pick up on the engine to use it?

Sounds great - wow what do you need all that seating for - planning to do some sea safaris or something?
I know what you mean about the time of year - I go to collect my boat tomorrow morning after what i thought was a looooong wait. Im disapointed that the forcast is force 6 and pissing down for my first weekend with it.
What size fuel tank have you had put in her?

One reason was that the 10" setback would give me room in the boat - the other was in the interest of saving fuel - even if it's only a TINY bit!!!
Other benefits will be that I can jack it up for shallow water running - if you saw where i will keep it for the first couple of months you will see why!!!
It is a CMC electric one - got it at a good price. Don't know about the low water pickup yet - I have specced a water pressure guage so will watch it like a hawk!!!

Force 6 would be FUN - it's the rain that I hate - still once you are soaked through it just doesn't matter anyway!!!
2x fuel tanks - in total 105 gallons or 477 litres - ouch!!!
May well do some commercial work with it later on - it is being built to MCA spec.

Funnily enough I took my mates girls out in my baby rib the other day - they were pretty quiet and nervous at first so I kept the speed down - after a while I thought "sod it" and opened up - 25mph in a 3.1m is pretty fast when it's lumpy!!! they LOVED it - big grins on their faces all the time - moaned like hell when we were coming back in!!!
By the way they are 6 and 7 - right little monsters!!!

I understand your thinking behind it, but I hope you've specified an extremely beefed up transom, 10" of setback gives a huge amount of leverage on a transom of a rib, unlike a hard boat it doesn't have the benefit of a deck to hold it all in place, your going to need some very hefty knees, fastened "mechanically" to the transom to hold all that in place!
And i'm not so sure on your choice of Lifter, CMC have a habit of breaking with only a 2 stoke V6 on them, with only 6" of setback, let alone 10. I think I'd have gone for something like a Stainless Marine "Gorrilla", probably the strongest of them all. You get what you pay for in this game.

Yes I did spec a beefed up transom for that very reason!!!
It is only a 2 stroke V6 I am running - lightest of them all I believe.
I have yet to see the CMC in the flesh but haven't really seen any bad reports on them!!!
If it does start to look dodgy I may well reverse engineer it with heavier duty stuff - have my own lathes and a milling machine(big ones)!!!
