Just bought a ribeye.
Just bought the Ribeye 365 from Benjytaylor that he had advertised on here.
It is a great little boat with a surprisingly deep V hull, it looks like a hard boat with tubes. It is not new by any means but the important things are all in top condition, ie, very nice Mercury 30hp with electric start and trim & tilt, new steering and recent service, ( runs very nicely ) it has efi fuel injection 3 cylinders, not sure what cc. it is.
There is a new battery and a nice icom vhf. Ben is going to put my Lowrance elite dsi chartplotter/fishfinder on for me, and fit a set of lines, cleats and tow setup.
The trailer doesn't look very old at all with some new bits on it.
Luckily ben had it at the Weymouth and Portland sailing academy so I joined and the Ribeye can stay there, so I didn't even have to move it.
Thanks to Ben for helping with the storage suggestions and all the help with all my questions.
Booked in for the powerboat level 2 course with him in June which will be usefull.
It will be a shame to see my aerotec 380 go but it will have to be sold now to recoup some of the outlay on the Ribeye. (Will post an add soon).
I hope it is alright to put this thread up, not sure if it is kosher or not.?
Pete.

Pete , Sounds like a great little set up and should be good on the water. The sailing acc is a very nice place, we launched from there last week, great ,wide slip easy to launch with pontoons to moor up to while you park car, boat wash facility all tide launch into protected harbour.

Hi Trevor.
Yes it is a nice place to keep the boat, only about 100yds to launch from the boat park. I had a look at the slip and as you say it is a nice big space with the tie up pontoons and a place to wash off the boat with toilets right there.
I was going to keep the boat at Ferry bridge marine as it is a fair bit cheaper, but glad we went for Portland marina which meant I didn't have to move the boat to new premises.
I haven't got a tow bar on my current car so Ben is going to launch for me until I get myself sorted which is great.
Can't wait to take it out now, hopefully the wind will die down this week coming.
Pete.

Yeah tell me about it
Before my first go in the little ribeye Ben was telling how good the 5.4 Seariders are and that would probably be my best move for my next upgrade
Went out on it this morning for its first run with me.
Frightened myself a bit when I jumped a wave and got airbourne testing the top speed It will plane at 14knots and exceeds 25knots no problem.
Need to trim it down more than it is at the moment by moving the bolt down to give me a bit more downward trim so it will plane a bit easier and also I find the throttle a bit crap, nothing happens for about half the travel then virtually all of it comes at once and it is too stiff for my liking
Apart from that it goes great and it is nice to be able to stand up and drive for a change.

Having moved the console forward by about 3 1/2 inches, added the dole fins and dropped the trim bolts down as far as they would go, oh and without the gallons of water that had entered the hull via the dodgy expandable bung the little ribeye handled really sweetly, getting straight up on the plane after just a few seconds, with no skyward shennanagins at all.(Where's the spell checker).
Thanks for taking the pictures Ben and Sunny
I saw loads of those big jellies too they are huge, ran over a few, hope I didn't chop any up
Plenty of mackerel about, great fun on light gear, one at a time. Will try and catch a bream or two tomorrow, anyone have any favourite spots not too far from Portland/Weymouth?
Pete.

Thanks Manonthemoon. love the name.
Out today, cruised down the east side of Portland, Grove point to Church ope cove. I was too early for the local tackleshop so didn't get any squid for the bream, tried a sliver of mackerel but no joy, caught the worlds smallest Pollack and one around 2lbs so pleased with that.
I am looking forward to trying for the small Tope later into summer.
Plenty of mackerel about if you wanted, but I wanted to catch something different.
Pete.

No time for boating this weekend, hopefully out again sometime next week.
Will be over Saturday evening to top up the petrol and do a little tinkering.
Pete.

Brilliant nice picture, parked up for lunch break in Weymouth harbour just before the lifting bridge.
The searider was a great boat, really enjoyed it.
Trouble is the Ribeye will soon be for sale to help fund the purchase of one ( And I promised Sue we would keep the Ribeye until at least next year )
So if anyone is interested, let me know.
Pete.
