Actually, they are OK with it and even list the Verado in their price list. I think they accept that some people want a bit more than the Honda 225 offers.

Magnum did the fact that the demo boat engine wasn't up to snuff influence your decision?

Yes, or rather it did for the engine. The boat performed superbly.

I'm sure you've already stated this somewhere, but what area do you intend keeping it?

Had a good look at one of these last summer, but never got a spin in it.
Looking forward to hearing reports on her though!! They certainly are a rare beast.

Glad to see that you're probably going with a Verado. The honda in my opinion just wouldn't do the boat justice. With the Verado it really would be something special!! Best of luck anyway, report back soon and take plenty of pictures!!

I agree with all the comments about the boats looks which are fantastic and I am sure with the 275 the performance will be simply amazing, however the tank looks a little small at 200 litres? Is there an option for a bigger tank?

Agreed. Standard tank is 200 litres and I'm speaking to them at the moment about having something bigger. I think 275 is possible just waiting to hear from them.

Brochure says aluminium, at least that's what the standard one is made of.

That's a legitimate question! Cougar run a racing series, have a long history in powerboat racing and this hull is derived from the race boat (I think).

It is my understanding, mainly due to a long and informative conversation with you, that Ali tanks are far more suited to high speed planing craft. I was wondering if Cougar fitted them as standard and not trying to kick off the 'my Ali tanks better than your SS tank' debate!

I don't know what they use, but I rather doubt it's Stainless Steel.

The Formula 1 RIBs (200hp) are just about pulling 70 mph in good conditions - and you're still trying to squeeze an extra 0.25 of a mile an hour out of it all the way round the Island!

I can now report with the change to a 200XS (the race version of the Optimax) that we are now doing over 75 if flat conditions!
