keel guard or no keel guard

I am looking for some opinions I have a keel guard installed on a searider 5.4 and been very happy with it, I was thinking of doing the same with a hurricane 630. I feel no effect on handling with the smaller boat but was wondering if anyone has used them on larger boats in the 22 to 25 foot range. searider is used almost entirely on a small lake, i was wondering if anyone has experienced any difference in handling when they have installed on on a larger boat that is used in the ocean in heavy waves. thank you for any info

We have a full length keel guard on our 9m RHIB, no adverse effects.

Whilst I'd be pretty confident in saying that a keel guard wouldn't affect the handling, the thing that puts me off investing in one is that Keel Guard themselves recommend that you do not fit one if your trailer has a central roller that the guard sits on.

Doesn't make any difference; I stuck the stuff under my other boat and did one bit a bit off. Tried to loosen it 2 seconds later; impossible! I was amazed how it stuck to the hull.

Once it's on, it is almost impossible to remove; it's really robust. Don't worry about the rollers.

thanks, i have it on my sr 5.4. i love it. the first one i installed did come undone. it is really hard to fit over the chines at the bow. thats where it started to come loose. It was even replaced for free from the company, I can see if there is a lot of weight on a center roller that it could be a problem. My worry was that when applied the keel is that much less sharp. i know its only a little bit but felt like when i put on the keel guard it seems to round off the sharpness of the bow. mayby preventing it from cutting through the waves just a little less than without. ive been very happy with my experiences with them so far. thanks.
