Hello folks

Well, have I got some catching up to do!

Unfortunately whilst we were away for our New Year break in Scotland, my wife Marjory's mother, who lived in a private nursing home nearby, was taken very ill and sadly died.

Marjory was able to spend her time with her and we were both there when she passed away. This meant that our break was extended much longer than planned, so that we could organise the funeral and legal business.

The funeral took place outside our house (a local tradition) with the sea as a backdrop and the sound of the waves as the music. A beautiful setting for a final send off.

Incidentaly Marjory's mother's father was a sea captain. During WW1 he got drunk one night whilst ashore and 'jumped ship'. He went off and and joined the army. Whilst in the army he was seriously wounded. So seriously in fact that they thought he was going to die. Because of this he received a King's pardon, after which he promptly recovered!

Well we are back in Birmingham now, and getting ready to deal with all the backlog of our own lives on Monday.
