These guys are tenants of mine, their stuff is top notch. I'm happy to get some T shirts printed if required and more than happy to wear one. It's an issue which needs some driving home.

Contest for the caption on the shirt? Personally, I quite like something subtle but to the point, such as:
Don't be a C**t wear your cord!

How about...

Kill Cord or Kill Joy?
(or kill Jack, or Daisy, or Harvey, or Katie
or Thomas, or Jade, or Peter, or Carol,
and add names of your choice)

If we get this right, it could run. We need a good logo that hits home without being naff. Are there any graphics guys on here?

Ok, so lets ignore the arrogant ones who think they are so clever that kill cords don't apply to them, and concentrate on the people that just don't realise the dangers. How do you reach them?

I like the idea of polo shirts or T-shirts if we could get enough people to buy and wear them. If they were well designed and good quality I would buy a few.

I guess Social Media is another way of reaching the masses. Maybe a "Wear your Killcord" Facebook page?

Sounds like a good idea. Let's assume we'll run with it, and please keep this thread on topic.

I think that would tie in very well, and pictures of people wearing the shirts would be good twitter/facebook fodder.

So, we need

- more ideas for slogans and logo
- a designer or designers to make it look excellent

Any takers?

I like the idea.

Who's going to wear the T-Shirts and in what context ? Are we thinking family guy when out on his boat, or commercial guy during his working day ?

Anyone.
It's important to get the design right. They need to be edgy without be crass or naff.

Black shirts with red print would my opener.

Looks like we posted at the same time. It may be a waste of time, or it might be something that could gain some momentum and actually make a difference. If Mollers is happy to do the leg work, and some people buy the t-shirts then that's cool, and won't harm you.

Maybe you'd like to start a separate thread with your own ideas for getting the message out or otherwise improving the situation?

So, never having been moderated before, do I get notification of the jury's verdict, or do I just assume guilt if the post doesn't re-appear?

I think it is a good idea, What about a simple one with the yellow triangle that bayliners used to have on the back warning about people in water and running the engine, A yellow triangle with a person a foot and a propeller inside it.

Sorry, thought it had been reinstated. It has now anyway.

FWIW I like the idea. I think we do need to be a bit careful not to alienate people, but if it enraged a few people it would certainly generate some publicity.

Another possibility could be to print a slogan on dry bags as they are always on show on the decks of open boats. The t-shirt idea is okay for people living by the coast , but for guys living in places like Manchester like myself, walking in the local boozer wearing a t-shirt with the words wear your kill cord would make you appear to be like some gangster strangling hit man.... innit...

Okay, cheers for that. In that case I'll do a proper artwork of it and re-post for comments.

If you could make a brand of it, possibly with RYA you could really spread the message on a permanent basis. A range if clothing etc in the boating community.

Could no-one who knew the late victim (someone did post on here) contact people he knew?

Based on what I read of his profession he was well connected. Only takes one client in the right position to take it up.....

I'm sure we could get something going via SKY. We need to get things a bit more sorted first though!
