I find its usually slightly easier at Carsaig (steeper slip = more depth?)

I'll get back to you on the ethanol/spouse mixture in due course.
We had to use Carsaig one year and it was no better.i agree re slip steepness but it wasn't as well cared for. I think the Ribcraft is just heavy and we might need to re-configure the cradles but I'm not the expert. Others on here would have far better suggestions. A crane perhaps?!

There's usually fewer observers over the otherwise too which helps reduce the pressure, although the bit I find hardest is reversing the empty (and therefore almost invisible) trailer down the slip.
Dry stack is the answer. Shame there isn't one.

The biggest problem on the Carsaig side is the fact that sometimes you cannot turn at the hammerhead because of inconsiderate bar stewards who park trailers and cars!!

in an effort to eek out those drops of Summer a little more,
I am planning to abandon the east coast this weekend
and head to Whitehaven on Saturday AM and drop the boat in the water.
Thinking then IOM and onto Bangor to stay the night, returning Sunday.
Anyone planning to be afloat (or safely in the pub) on this route?

Had a nice run out to Cambpeltown from Largs in the shark infested water of the Clyde today. Only saw three (just off the south tip of Bute) but one of them done us the favour of swimming right under the boat for it's photo shot.
Talking to another chap just back from the same area, reckons he counted eleven.........cracking day out.

What kind of sharks were they? Basking?

They use to be but it's years since I've seen them. The area around Arran seams to be best. I've also seen an orca jump vertically almost it's fully length just off Lochranza, again though, that was probably about twenty years ago.
