Absolutely no claim to doing it single handed, but regards the winch, if you had to use it the front of the boat wouldn't be at the winch post and you'd have to wade in to hitch the winch strap to the boat anyway.
However there is no need to use the winch until the boat is hauled out to the top of the slip and then only to pull it in the last few inches.
What is edited out is my fitting a safety chain to the top eyelet before actually getting hauled out the water. "Belt and braces".
PS.
Having been in a self driving "Tesla" I am 100% confident I'd rather my wife or anyone over 12 yrs old drives my car up the ramp.

Have the BoatCatch system from Australia installed on my trailer .
Driving the heavy diesel Scorpion single handed on/off the trailer works very well.

That's almost exactly what I sketched out the other day, except my bungee is pulling down on an extension behind the pivot.
I could knock this up out of scrap Stainless I already have in the garage and weld the catch onto my existing D ring.
I think I'll have a go later in the summer when I've fitted my new engine.
My only concern about this is that I usually like to warm my engine up alongside the slip before giving it any real revs, so I'd be reluctant to drive it forward then off backwards on a cold engine.
Not many of us have the luxury of a deserted slip where the boat could sit idling on the trailer blocking the slip for a few minutes.
Nasher.

And unless you have a perfectly angled slip, you’ll need to get the trailer much further into the water than for a normal winch recovery. You’d practically have the trailer submerged, brakes, bearings and all. The water would have to be deep enough at the stern for the prop to bite.
I’m out.

It does look nice - I've seen a version on a trailer at Torquay a few years back, but the set up has to be exact.
What do you do on a very shallow slip?
If I'm single handed, and can't walk her on / off a pontoon alongside the slip on launch I put a line round front of trailer and back to bow cleat, unhook the winch hook, put enough power on to hold her on the trailer then nip forward and release the bow line so on bsord whole time.
Coming in, again align on trailer, enough power to hold whilst I jump off tie painter to trailer, clip on winch hook, then jump back on to kill power.
I know leaving engine on / in gear in not ideal, but she is held on the trailer, and it's about 20-30 sec of unattended controls.
Always better to have a 2nd pair of hands though!

Hello
Things are getting confusing as to who said what.
Did anyone say what.
Anyway I think it is a good idea to have a thread with videos of how we launch and retrieve our boats to enable us to learn from each other.

My tow car thread inspired me to look at this post. Despite the pictures I can’t work out how the catch is holding the boat. Do you have anymore pictures or detail?
