Leaning posts

Out of all the times I've been out on my RIB I think I've sat down twice wail jockeying. So thought about a lean post. I'm not after any fancy seat that converts from a lean post into seating. Was thinking of getting one of THESE .

Really interested in anyones experiences with leaning post~V~Jockey seat. At what hight it's best to have them (behind your backside, lower back etc) and if they can course you trouble in anyway. Have to admit I can't think of any.

Cheers

I rarely sit on the boat, and although I have jockey seats on the current boat I had a backrest on a previous 6.5m boat. It was very comfortable (lower back height) and I didn't have very many problems with it ... but I did fit foot loops as it didn't give me any lateral stability. In big waves or at speed there wasn't the security of a seat between your knees to stop you slipping sideways and although I never did lose my balance or footing I did feel a bit vulnerable. The foot loops did a good job of anchoring me in place and made me feel a lot better about the backrest.

I'd buy some if I were. The foot straps have a plastic/rubber reinforcement on the inside and them a hypalon patch on the bottom.

Not cheap but better than ending in the drink.

I've got a long piece of doubled over hypalon that's meant for the life line. Should be well strong enough?

Maybe your jockey seat is too low. Are you very tall. I only raise myself when I think i'm going to slam which isn't that often.

6ft 2, so about average height I'd think. My brother finds it easier to sit down on my RIB but he's 6ft 7.
