Thanks for all the negative comments, wouild not expect anything else from some LOL, to be clear I did in fact have a tow rope but due to coming to the aid of many a vessel over past few years I decided I did not want to tow him myself as last time when I towed a hard powerboat I scuffed my tubes and took some paint off my outboard leg when the bridle block got caught.

So as they were in no imediate danger I acted as communicator to coastguard and managed to get another rib to tow them. If no other person was around to help I would have towed them in the end. So to be blunt if they aint in immediate danger and help is on hand I aint gonna risk my boat or myself for silly people any more.

How t f did you manage all of that?

Just chuck the guy a line and tie it somewhere that wont fall off.

Maybe it was best to call in someone else.

My very 1st boat although not a rib was a dejon i refurbed with the plan to summer fish off it just outside the harbour at Blyth Northumberland
The day of launch was soon upon me , i made all safety checks n donned my lifejacketand As i had a crowd gathering! Mam n dad , girlfriend , brother armed with boat rod and half the boat yard.
Slipping was easy and I fired her up, 1st time and she idled away , now I'm not stupid and have built aluminium windfarm boats for few year so knew how to fit out a wee little boat but as I dropped her into astern there was an almighty clunk an the outboard jumped.
I promptly jumped out asked brother to kill engine and on close inspection with water round my waist bent over to check the transom plate and brackets
Whooooosh!!!!!!!! Infront of at least 15 folk the bloody lifejacket goes off from me bending over dunking it in the drink haha
What a plonker I felt and made worse by the roars of laughter from ashore!!!!

Had very very similar to Boris in Poole. Raining hard as I head to cobbs to fuel up....and see a bright yellow donzi or something..engine cover up, engine dead...no electrics. Towed it back to dry stack...

Half hour later they have a jump start pack on it and its running again.

Ten minutes later I see it heading out into heavy rain and with the light fading fast.......I stayed in the pub at that point:-)

Some people just don't know when to quit! I remember a day where I was preparing a trip out and things just weren't going my way. I hadn't even moved the bloody rib off the drive and my frame of mind was plummeting.

I said "f#$ k it" and stayed at home much to the annoyance of my wife who thought she was going to have a quite day without the kids. The kids weren't best pleased either as I'd promised them a day on the island.

I'm not a superstitious person normally, but around boats I am a little more sensitive.

We all make mistakes don't we? I went on a 100-mile jet ski trip yesterday to three locations I hadn't visited before. Upon arriving at the first of these I took out my video camera to make another of my "Hi babe, here we are at...." classics only to realise that I had left the effing camera battery sitting in its charger on the kitchen table. Thankfully my jet ski buddies were there to record the moment.
