Lencraft

I am looking for info about Lencraft Boats.
I am particularly wishing to hear from any current or past owners. I have made extensive research in to various RIBs and would like to hear any first hand experience on Lencraft boats.

No Problem David . - Glad to be of service .

We in Lough Ree Power Boat School train quitae a few beginners before they buy their first boat . We operate a free consultancy service to such training clients - i.e. we will keep in touch with your bulider and advise you both as to the features which we consider you need or do not need on your boat given what you want to use it for .

This advice can range from choice of Electronics down to some thing as simple as positioning of u bolts , anchor locker design , grab handles , drain bungs etc .

I would be delighted to offer this free service to you . If interested just give me a buzz ( mobile is normally the fasted way to reach me .

On the Instructor front , given that we are the leading trainers of Professional RIBsters in Ireland our Instructor panel are all from a Military , Professional or Rescue background and are generally Advanced PBIs or Trainers . You would be more than welcome to join a SB course . Just let me know when you are over .email consultancy@powerboat.org

Best wishes ,

Stuart www.powerboat.org

Hi David ,

I have fairly extensive and happy experience of Lencraft over the past 7 years both as a leisure , Commercial and a Military user / buyer . I currently run 5 Lencraft Boats in my various lives .I also run several other RIBs ( Avon , Narwhal , Humber , Redbay Flatacraft and Gemini .)

Lencraft are hand built boats and they drive like BMW s . The gang in the factory led by Jerry Lenane ( son of MD and founder Jimmy Lenane ) are very friendly , helpful and professional. It's a bit like the treatment you get at Morgan cars .

You can see one of our boats Ally Cat which is based on the Lencraft Lynx 5.8 m hull lenght and 6.8 m overall and one of our ex boats Tigeree a Lencraft sport 5.3m on our website www.powerboat.org .

My contact details are also there so feel free to contact me off list if you like

Lencraft's website is www.lencraft.com

Best wishes ,

Thank you very much for the endorsement. I visited the factory last December and took a 5.5 out for a spin, very impressive too. I agree with your comments about the "Morgan" type service. I have a boat virtually finished and was seeking views before I confirm the final build and delivery.
If there is any Level 2 teaching goinng at your school, or if I would be able to assist on a Safety Boat (to gain practical experience) I am a PBI (freelance).
Reply if interested.
David

Hi Guys,
David, I trained with Stuart and subsequently bought Tigeree from him.

For the last year she has been based out of Malahide and we've done some cruising on the East coast. Been out in all sorts of weather with no problems whatsoever.

No problem in recommending Lencraft both as a product and as a company.

Cheers,
Owen.

Thank you very much for the reply Owen. I have now firmed up the order for the Lencraft. I believe it will be the first in Pembrokeshire, maybe Wales. I will test it to the limits of what we can offer by way of weather etc.
I will keep Jerry updated and hopefully we will see more of the celtic enterprise enter celtic Wales.
The boat is to be called Matuka, a reference to its colour scheme which mimicks a fishing fly of the same name. No guesses as to what another hobby is.

Update: 9/05/01
Engine fitted-50hp 4stroke, initial tests are VERY positive. Now all I need is a 5 to 8 HP aux L/S engine for under £500.
Happy Ribbing
Dai
