Lifting AB 9.5ALX by the bow locker

Hello. I have an AB 9.5 ALX (X means the model with the bow locker) and I have it hanging horizontally from davits on my Tollycraft 37. The built in bow pickup points are welded eyes on the aft wall of the bow locker.

I would like to shift the dinghy aft on the davits by putting lifting eyes on the top of the bow locker, just forward of the hatch. I would re-enforce the locker top by adding 3/8 inch aluminum plate under the forward half of the bow locker top, leaving at least a 1/4 inch gap between the aluminum plate and anything inflated.

Would this work?

Thanks in advance and Happy New Year!
