Very quiet down here at the moment at Ribex. Unfortunately the sun has disappeared. There are still plenty of things to look at, so if you haven't already; then get yourself down to the show before it close in just under 3hrs!

Just back from Ribex, bit quieter than expecting but I spose thats not such a bad thing, less chance of the Mrs getting knocked off the pontoon!!
Some nice Ribs about and managed to get some photos which once I've got to an appropriate file size i will up load and u can all try and see yourself!
Any recommendations for free software to resize pictrures from 1MB to 200Bytes?

Too quote JK:
"Resizing pictures
If you are using Windows XP then there is an add-on (or "Microsoft Windows Powertoy") called "Image Resizer" that makes it very easy.
It's free and you can download it from http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/...ppowertoys.mspx
I've just tried it, and it's about as easy to use as possible! Once installed it adds a right click menu to image files, called "Resize Pictures" you then get a choice "Small, Medium, Large etc".
Small is 640x480 -- the perfect size to put onto RIBnet.
Thanks to benc for finding this.
John"

I ve got a HP camera, computer, printer etc so I tend to use the HP image zone program that came bundled with it somewhere, you have to get the pictures quite small if they are good quality to get them below the 200kb threshold I have found. Mine tend to be smaller than 640x480 to get below 200kb.

I'm going to have a nerd moment!
When you save jpg's to should have the option to which compression ratio you require. If you select 10(highest quality, biggest file) then you will not be able to get below 200kb for a 640*480 image, but if you select a compression ratio of something like 7 or 8 you will get below 200kb. Do not go below 6 if you can avoid it as you will start to loose colour depths that are quite noticable.
Nerd Out!
Regards
D.

Just got back from RIBEX too. Terrible crossing from Calshot to IOW.
Felt that the show was very quiet in general and many companies not represented at all. I would have expected some kind of chandlery but sadly nothing provided at all. Did not see any demos of kit but saw lots of empty pontoons.
However thanks to Cookee for sorting me a Ribnet burgee and also to Jon B who took the time to talk to us about the new M7 h/h and intercoms.

Really enjoyed the show this weekend, great to get to know some of you a bit better. It was a little quiet but that's life.
Thank you to Paul (Jackeens) and to Naughty Buoy from Print Solutions for your help - much appreciated.
