We have any amount of them just a few yards off shore here, just a pity I'm not fond of them! Mackerel and Pollock and Cod are rife here, wouldn't entertain Pollock but I know a few that do!

I'm not sure if there is much value in regulation - who would police it?

But this may be of interest to those of you who think there is more to be done:

Yeah! I saw that in "the other place" & my personal response remains the same, I.e.

........"Good luck with that[emoji6] The country's going to hell in a handcart, and getting your knickers in a twist over an unknown number, (probably very very small in the big scheme of things) of boaters getting caught up in other boaters kit is hardly high on the list of priorities. I'm a 30 year ribber/diver & have never hit a pot line. Use your eyes, experience, common sense etc & carry a sharp knife. Although I sort of sympathise with your cause, I think we have bigger things to worry about. All IMO naturally."......

Ps "affects" [emoji106]

Sometimes you have to step back for a moment & take a look at the bigger picture. Parliament has enough on its plate over the next few years, without sorting out bickering factions of whinging boaters, complaining about another group of boaters. It's an "in house" problem that we can work out like grown ups.

Creating the petition website up was a master stroke of publicity on behalf of the government imo. Give the us, the plebs something to look at, make us feel involved & keep us of their (the governments) back. It would be interesting to see if anything has actually changed as a result of the petitions. Personally I think it's all a bit reality tv.

Dear Pikey Dave,

There is no place for such reason and logic on the Internet ;-)

These people all created petitions and you will never believe what happened next: http://www.itv.com/news/2017-01-31/p...they-achieved/

(Ah well actually you might - but it's probably the only thing worse than click bait headlines - badly written and poorly thought out petitions.)

If you really want to make some impact then you (a) need someone to die as a result of pot entanglement - any volunteers? OR (b) need the RNLI to make a fuss about how much of their time is spent going to pot related call outs.

I rest my case. Complete & utter waste of time, just a placebo for the masses.
