Thanks for update, so you didn't manage to book St kats ;-(

Did you make a plan to stop in London for lunch or something? What time is HW - I think that Limehouse would accommodate a short stop for lunch. They were very helpful in April and you can lock in/out HW +\- at least 4hrs.

I visited london by rib in April. First time for nearly 10 years and still great fun.

Now my partner has a back problem preventing her for coming on the rib for a while. So I can't join you for the whole trip I'm afraid.

I will still try to join you 6th or 8th.

I stayed there for a couple of nights last year and found that phoning them was better than email (and better than VHF too when you're waiting to lock in!)

I've never had a problem going on the inside of the pier for a short stop There's also a holding pontoon at Limehouse that you can probably use for a lunch stop, but it would be worth phoning them first.

The holding pontoon at Limehouse was very ruff when I was there.

I did tie up to it to stow some lines and fenders but not sure I could have sat there for lunch.

It's 12knts from margretness (where you should call for permission to pass through Thames barrier) right up to Wandsworth bridge. You won't be going as far up as Wandsworth bridge I doubt.

In reality you can keep the boat on the plane even if it's 13/14knts - no one seamed to mind when I did anyway !!

Oh, when you call the barrier - they give you a span to pass through. Travelling upstream, spans are designated from Left to right with A (alpha) being far left and not navigable. B (bravo) 2nd from left etc etc. Upto I think K span.

There is also designation as to which span of each bridge to pass under. Two amber lights indicate which span to use - three red lights closed.

A tall guy I used to know ran a useful website with all this info on it but it's long since disappeared unfortunately.
