Also have you considered Chiswick Pier as a possible overnight location? Its a bit further up river but they are friendly and the money goes back into the Trust that manage the pier.
Home » Chiswick Pier Trust
There also is Imperial Wharf Marina near marina, again upriver but lots going on...

50/50 for me on Friday I'm afraid, I'll keep you posted.
I did originally mention it to a few friends but unfortunately as we're off the water this month I didn't follow it up (sorry).
Suzie, my partner, is having treatment for back problems otherwise we would have joined you for 3 days. Of course I can go boating on my own, but we usually enjoy it together. Back on the water for July I hope.

Are you coming to a waypoint off N.Foreland ? Perhaps "east last" or "long nose" navigation marks? This would be a good rendezvous.

The forecast is looking good for your trip F2, rising to 3 or 4 from the w on Friday. It might be force 5 from the west by late afternoon but you will be tucked away in the river medway before that.
Sunday for the trip home winds have swung to the S. Also quite light force 2-3.

The force 5 from the W late afternoon Friday makes it unattractive for me to come to the medway with you, as I prefer to return to Ramsgate Friday afternoon and this is a head sea for some distance.
Still I plan to launch "ballistic" tomorrow afternoon in anticipation.

Regrettably I'm crying off.
I can't bleed through the fuel following a recent filter change and will shortly have missed HW.
Sorry giles.

Take your fuel tank vent hose off and stuff your foot pump on it

Sorted now. Combination of 3 things: primer bulb after the filter, filter plumbed in backwards and user error on the water drain off tap which was letting air in.
Still think it's too late to launch in time to meet giles.
I even email my customer with a protector in the harbour but he's tied up tomorrow (and it's a bit cheeky to help myself).
Sea conditions flatted right off here for your crossing though giles...

Yes I just saw it.
The only good news is for me because for different reasons I pulled out and didn't invest time and money in preparing a boat.
For those that did its a real shame. I hope some go anyway.

Have you considered The Medway instead? It's far friendlier for ribbing and the marinas have petrol! Also it means you can pop round to Southend for the 'proper' start, rather than the parade from Greenwich.

Hi,
we did the same trip with 5 Ribs two weeks ago. And I can say that Limehouse Marina is my favorite. Very kind staff and not too expensive. Between 13 and 18 pounds per night. Galleons Point Marina called 30 pounds per night though they have lower prices on their website. Maybe a "German discount" ;-)
The other big advantage of Limehouse is the central location. 2 min to walk to the next DLR station. For accommodation we did choose the Ibis Hotel in London Excel. Not too expensive and quiet nice breakfast.
Hope this information is useful for others who plan a trip to London.
