London Rib Adventure

This on lastmiute.com

"The only way to see the Thames; a 'must do' excursion with the unique and exciting Orange Speedboat Experience on the Thames, suitable for all the family. It is London's latest attraction, cruising in comfort at up to 35 knots.
It begins with a guided tour with entertaining and informative patter from enthusiastic guides. All guests wear sailing jackets and life vests indicating that this is livelier than the average tour. The boat has twin 225hp engines to allow comfortable cruising and good acceleration. Pass other river boats in comfort and see more of the Thames in one hour than any other boat trip.

Staff Pick

A history lesson in a speedboat... If only school was this much fun. This is certainly seat of your pants stuff. From the moment the skipper (I'll come to him later) lets the two huge engines rip you know you're in for one helluva ride. This is a Jekyll and Hyde trip that takes in the best of both worlds. The first half is a white-knuckle ride along the Thames, zigzagging in and out of traffic and catching some serious air. The second bit is a, slightly more sedate but no less enjoyable, tour. The guide/skipper, a parody of a sea captain, has some fascinating information about life on the Thames through the ages. Stories of pirates, hangings and conspiracies leave you intrigued. His sea farer demeanour almost gives you the impression he's lived through most of the events he's talking about, fought 50ft ocotpi with only a rusty fillet knife and scoured the seven seas in search of Black Beard's gold. You're in safe hands. Also, don't miss Bill Oddie's £10m mansion. The house won't take your breath away but the fact that Bill Oddie owns it will.
Two very big thumbs up! "

Unfortunately "zigzagging and catching some serious air" has landed the operators in trouble for an alledged collision with a class 5 passenger boat. There is an ongoing MCA prosecution.

RIBase
I'm not sure I'd be too happy if I owned a rib like that and they descibed it as an 'orange speedboat'.

These guys are based in Guernsey, and they do an excellent job.
Its their fault i bought a rib in the first place, after going out with them several times on different trips i was well and truly hooked..

This entry is not correct. The MCA are not persuing any investigation with the operators.

Alleged MCA Investigation- Thames LRV

Hi Tim
We have done quite a lot of work with the LRV operation and have found them to be 100% honest about their operation and totally committed to delivering an excellent standard of service to the customers in accordance with all current regulations. They are working hard alongside the MCA on the impact of future regulations (ie Thames AIS introduction for example)..
They are adamant that the "operator" ie LRV as a business is not under MCA investigation. There may be other parties who might be to which I have no further information.
