Thanks JW it started life in Skye and has moved south a bit first Cumbria and now the Solent . I will have to change the name as SOLAN will be a bit confusing talking to Solent CG. Any suggestions welcome would like to keep the hunting dog theme if possible .

That'll be appropriate cos a Solan or Solan Goose is a gannet.

Luckily there is a way through this. It involves a ceremony of removing all traces of the previous name, consigning the old name to the deep on a sacrificial item and drinking copious amounts of grog, while sharing some to each of the 4 winds. Many variations on a theme, here is one
http://www.namethatboat.com/boat-renaming.htm
The drinking bit is the most important. (After the days outing of course!)

I always wondered about that.. Infact when I named my existing boat ( which is a mark II) of the first, the supplier ran out of the small number two, and I wouldnt allow it to go on the water with the same name as the last so I pencilled in a 2 beside the name just in case

Some before and after shots !
Had a great trip to Cowes last night and as a bonus we saw 2 dolphins just off Southsea at the small boat passage!
I like diesel the fuel gauge has yet to move and no it is not broken!

Wow, that cleaned up nicely. You've obviously got a tub of elbow grease.

Totally knackerd at the end of it and it still needs more on the hull but that can wait till winter .On a seperate note does your leg generate static ? I leant over the transom and touched the top of the leg to see how hot it was and I am sure i got a belt off it ! I was hanging on to the A frame at the time .

Dunno, I've not done that but how hot was it? My guess is it was fine cos when I've changed the drive lub (often) it's never been anything more than a wee bit darkened. Maybe you were charged up and grounded youself to the drive... You'll be wearing them old purple nylon knickers again.
You've just reminded me so a wee note for you. The engine block of the KAD is not connected to battery negative but it is connected to the sea via a small cable on the inside of the transom shield. When you stop the engine, a relay pulls in to make a ground connection for the stop solenoid to activate.

I think it's an anti-corrosion regime. The engine will (should) be at the same potential as the sea water.

Could you touch it happily?

No, it's an Ocean Offshore like yours. There are pics somewhere here. The Jackeens posted them a while back.
