Looking at buying a H530 and have questions

Hi,

I'm looking at an ex Canadian government Zodiac Hurricane H530 with a center 2 man jockey consule. It seems to be in good conditon with some patches. No extra electronics or fancy stuff.

Hull number XDC530250989. I read this as being a 1989 boat, but the owner says it is a 1998. What year is it?

The motor is a Yamaha 150hp salt water series 2002 with apprx 250hrs. Is this too big for this boat? I can't read the engine power rating on the data plate.

What is this boat worth? If it is ten years older than the owner thinks how much should I try to get him to come down on the price?

Thanks for any help/information

I've confirmed with Zodiac that the boat is a 1989 but they don't know what motor it was rated for. Does anyone know what an H530 is normally rated for in motor size?

17' boat; I'd guess that a 150 would be at (or perhaps a bit beyond) the max power rating. Not that that's a bad thing; I often wish I had a bit more power on mine (Aluminum hulled 17.5' with an F115.) As long as the transom is solid and the motor is not way over the weight limit I don't think you'll be grossly (read "dangerously") overpowered.

Can't really say if it's worth the price, as you never mentioned it.

I just heard back from Zodiac and the boat is rated to max 90hp min 50hp. I think that 150hp is way too much.
