i have been looking at a new humber assault 5.3mtr it says it can take up to a 75hp/150kg but i have yet to come across while browsing engine manufactures a 75hp 4 stroke weighing in at 150kg or even close to that. (well i found one at 168kg seems to be the closest) Is this for the use of a 2 stroke 75 instead of a four stroke 75, if this is so, i would have to knock down the hp that i would like because now way would i put a 75hp 2 stroke on the boat. my 15hp 2 stroke uses like 12ish litres per day and thats just fishing around the shore

Looking for advise on a new rhib

Think that's the only 70 for that weight as it's still a 1000cc block like many 60hp motors.
Most 70 to 90 hp motors will have around 1500cc blocks, some 2000cc, hence the big hike in weight.
Usually best to go for the biggest hp in the range for a given block size. More power for no increase in weight.

Edit: 150kg seems a bit miserly on a 5.3m rib. They must know there are no new 75hp motors available in that weight.

1993 Evinrude 100hp 2-stroke moves the Hurricane 500 at 37 Knots WOT, Cruising at 30 Knots with just me + 30 Gallons of Fuel.

I have had me + 4 people in it (we all weigh over 200 Lbs) and could barely hit 30 knots at wide open throttle. The Cruise moved down to 24 knots in a standard chop.

I think a nice pristine 75hp motor will get you and your family going just fine.

yes thank you otis, that would be sweet for me as it would be 2 11 yr olds and the wife but but i dont particularly want to buy a yam f70 off the shelf because the boat is £8,800 what i been looking at and was only looking to spend £10,000 with at a real push to £15,000 and with buying them both new it would take me wel over what i wanted to spend, and that is for both engine and boat (dam these woman putting caps on spending)i just need to pull head out of the clouds and be realistic

after looking at the secondhand boats again that come with engine trailer and boat (complete) i think i will be shying away from a new boat with a second hand engine, because there is so many complete sets for like £10,000 and under, it saves my pennies and also the head f*ck of having to find and pay for a trailer, boat, engine, and then the steering and then fitting and only when all that is bought and fitted can you then start adding to your setup (with a big hole in the pocket) i may be just me being a skin flint and a lazy man, but i am now 99% certain that a second hand full setup is for me

Used Bombard 640 RIB with Suzuki 140HP Outboard Engine and Trailer for just over £13,000 its over my main budget yes but its complete and its also over my spec that i was going for but as you know jeff over is big smiles

but there is this one as well Excel Used Excel 470 RIB with Evinrude 60HP Outboard Engine and Trailer its under my spec in boat size by 300mm but i think i could live with this at £7,500 at only 7 yr old and well looked after
ive got all year to browse the sites looking for the right boat this is just a few i found straight off the bat and one thing is for sure i will not rush in to any purchase but if the right one comes along in the mean time so be it

Suzuki 70 hp 4 stroke weights about 155kgs. Lightest in the 1500cc block.
Yamaha is lightest but have smaller block and smaller lower...try to find on youtube suzuki 70 vs yamaha 70..
I have ordered suzuki 70 df from barnet marine for 5.2 boat after long hesitation between suz and yam..finally suz.was the choice..

I am paying different because i get tax free. Taxes payed locally.
As i mentioned the dealer it is not appropriate to mention price, but i advice you contacting laurence at barnet. I think he has yam 70 in stock.

Was your price including cables? Or regular package?
