Tinned Cat and dog food works too, just punch some hole in the can and tie off.

We've given up trying to catch lobsters, contenting ourselves with crabs & dogfish in the pot !!!

Loads of mackerel, some quite decent ones for the freezer at Carradale. Heading home Saturday so I hope the weather holds. The sound was like glass at 7 am .

Just come back after 4 hours out, got 5 mackerel & a dozen or so sand eels, the local guy at the side of me got 2 Bass & a bucket of sand eels. I'm fishing the same spot, same time, same method, same bait, but obviously there's summat I'm missing. Buggered if I know

nope, yer not wrong, bait of choice a nice juicy wriggling sandeel. Still blanked though. Sand eels are good eating in their own right, make for a tasty snack with a glass of cidre/biere

The Mackies were so thick and close in at Seaton Hole last night Kids were catching em with their Fishing nets!!!
......Just a bloody shame I had to hear it from my latest fishing apprentice!
Although he did drop me of a couple dozen! They had over 200 for the freezer in an hours feathering!
Silly Buggers didn't even think about what was pushing em in!..a live one lobbed out with a Big Trebble through his Snozz would have been interesting!!

I had the Classic cigars but no Des records, that's probably where I'm going wrong....

They were feeding on Small White Bait apparently..but were breaching and surging right on the Beach.
Ive seen it happen before and then there were Bass attacking them from below...we caught some good sized fish using the live bait method mentioned
....The trick is letting the fish run,and NOT striking, giving them time to turn and swallow the Mackerel..before you set the Hook...something I learned the hard way!

I wish, made my lot laugh when they watched it. Especially in this modern PC world my kids have never seen a cigar advert yet I smoke Classic cigars all the time......

Chucking it down here this morning, on the upside we were skiing until 8 pm last night and the kids didn't come in from fishing until 11 ...

Happy days

Tin of cheap cat food with the label removed so its shiney & a few holes punched in the side makes good pot bait if your leaving them down a few days .

Almost the end of our two weeks but I'm making a mental note for next year to salt some mackerel heads and have a cat with a few holes punched in it for bait....! Cheers

I just hope that there's enough room in the pot, I may buy a larger one!

Fresh sand eels as bait if you can get them. In Devon soft shell crabs.

Aye, got sand eels aplenty (launce(?)in French) still no joy, although we have been introduced to the delights of shallow fried & salted sand eel by the locals. Delicious as an aperu with a Ricard, who'd have thought it? I might be better off just eating the sand eels & sod the Bass
