Mackerel fishing/ fun on solent

Hi,

We are coming to gosport area in just over week and will be looking to do bit mackerel fishing, kneeboarding and wakeboarding.

We went about 7 years ago and fished around horse sand fort which was very good.

Was wondering where people would recommend we go in search for mackerel and where is best for the water sports?

Hayling Bay is usually good for mackerel, if there’s a south westerly wind the best place to play is Osborne Bay towards Ryde - totally sheltered.

Cowes Harbour entrance in front of the breakwater is the best Mackerel fishing mark on the solent as very deep water. Portsmouth harbour (gosport) is also very good but youll probably get pulled by HM or police for your efforts and told to move on.
