Mallaig Launching

What’s the story with launching at Mallaig, is it just turn up and launch? Or do you have to book it beforehand?
If so who do you contact?

Cheers

Just rock up & launch. It’s an awkward launch needing good reversing skills. You have to block the Main Street & jackknife the trailer around a sharp corner onto the slip. Check the times of the Hogwarts train or you’ll have to to negotiate hoards of weirdo’s dressed in robes & carrying wands, and that’s just the “adults” . If you want to use the marina, you need to pre-book. If you launch +\- 3hrs hw, it’s easier. If you drive past the slip & continue along the road past the marina, there’s plenty of roadside parking, with space to get a trailer in. If you continue up the hill towards the housing estate, there’s a large wide junction you can spin round in.
The photo below shows your arrival direction in green & then you reverse down the red line onto the slip.

When I was there last september the slip had an old boat sitting on it so had to launch on the beach part next to it, wasn't easy
