It goes okay with the tohatsu 90hp on but not neck wrenching. We don't dive or water ski . Just me and the family playing about. Although I read a old report on the Web that claimed 54mph from the setup when new!

The V6 135 and 150 is a different animal .. although not without their problems, mine (135) suffered poor carb setup and wouldnt pull up a skier
As to the 4 pot 115 and 125 as others have said

Thank you all for yor advice.against most of you advice i have done a deal and am picking it up next weeekend.spoke to my mate who's a mercury dealer who has reasured me that it will do the job for me plus for the money i have it is the most suitable motor on offer.

yeah it was down to finances when i got my force - despite my worries i am really happy with it, and the big step up in power was an added bonus!

mine is 90 to 125 not as much as you but looking forward to getting it on and sea trails.was their a big increase in speed and fuel consumtion.do you have a plase in holyhead?i have a caravan in trearddur bay.

we have a caravan at penrhyn bay just opposite the harbour, so not far from you at all - we are regulars in trearddur bay so will have to meet up! yes there was an increase in speed (6-8kts maybe more) but the biggest difference was being able to carry more people without the engine struggling to get the boat planing. fuel consumption is very similar because the engine isnt working as hard as the smaller one, but it does use more if you spend a lot of time working the throttle playing around. believe me, the small increase will be nothing compared to the big increase in fun!

It's weird how you almost double your hp but don't double your top speed. The extra grunt will be nice, l'm sure we can find more friends with lots of kids a big dog and a barbecue to use it!

Hello!
I just sold my 90HP Mercury for about 2300£ (bought it for 1900£) and bought a cheap, 2002 model Mercury 125 2+2 for 1800£ as the owner is fishing alot and just wanted a smaller fourstroke.
He did not know about the 2+2 function and said the engine was running smoothly. 9/9.1 bar on each sylinder. So it seems like it is in good shape.
Do you have any more experience with this engine? Was this a good engine? I've read good and bad things about this engine. Mostly good though.
I went for it as I made 600£ going from the 90HP to the 125HP, and the compression was far better on this one (measured with my gauge, same gauge as the other one, and same procedure).
So, I am wondering how the engine has been treating you? Any other got experience with this engine?
Gas it not that bad on the 2+2 I've heard. They are very kind when running 2 cyl for trolling, and if you drop 1000-1500 RPM it is not bad at all.
Due me being seventeen, I just had to jump it! The seller seemed very rich. Bought it for 3000£ last year, but was tired of the fuel usage.
