Okay I admit defeat - I've failed in getting together a bulk buy on RIBnet

Thanks to all that supported the idea and of course to Martin for working so hard to get a good deal together for us.

However I can't match this:

Thanks to C2RIBs for the link - some things to be aware of:

1. He has agreed to accept a Best Offer of £140 + postage

2. He has yet to confirm if they are UK stock

3. He has yet to confirm if they come with a warranty (I doubt it)

It was a good effort, I would add the clapping smiley but it would look cheesy.

The moral of the story is, I think, that it takes a lot of effort to save the last tenner. At one point there were a dozen people ready to buy what is without doubt one of the finest bits of safety kit invented:-

Small,
Easy to use,
Long dormant life,
Effective,
Global coverage,
etc etc

The last selling point is "good value" with a RRP of 260 quid these things are selling faster than McMurdo can make them AND they are yet to be made available is several big countries.

With the benefit of hind sight I would have gone for the MSS deal of 189 all inc. Maybe they could have been cajoled into giving away a free posing pouch? Who knows.

Anyway, well done to all concerned. To the other retailers, to the people who committed to buy and most of all to KY.

I doubt forum bulk-buys will ever work, but this one came pretty close.

KY- despite the sometimes colourful responses about your lists, it took some enormous effort and having been just a participant in this and a previous long purchase trial for a waterproof phone (well done again Malthouse).

Yes I took the bait of fleabay offer and will watch for the item hoping all is well as previous buyers seem happy with seller. I was happy with all your work and would pay tax if it occurred but easy for me as I can reclaim VAT.
So I will thank you publically for your efforts and spirit to get everyone a great deal. Dont be disheartened , I believe most of us really did appreciate it. Ian

Quick update from the seller:

1. Yes they are UK stock and of all the ones sold no one has encountered a problem registering them

2. They do come with a warranty

I've suggested he might want to pop in here and see the mammoth 12 pager regarding PLB's - you never know he might be insane enough!!

Keep a copy of the seller's assertion to that effect, as some manufacturers (Garmin for sure, as an example) do not honour warranty claims that have been sold via online auction providers.

I not suggesting that McMurdo are the same, I have had no cause to check, but some do.

Is a warranty worth much. Provided it works when you get it, surely you're not going to know whether it works until you activate it... a bit kinda late to claim on the warranty then.
