Message from QHM Portsmouth

Went out for a blast tonight and as usual called QHM for permission to cross the harbour channel. He ask me to pass this on:

"From 08 – 22 May 2006 there will be a trial relaxation of the requirement for boats of less than 20metres in length to call Harbour Control when crossing the Harbour to and from the small boats channel via Ballast pile beacon"

Full communication can be found at:

Sir Robin Knox-johnston - Vellux 5 Oceans Race

Old thread but worth an update as it might be a tad busy in Pompey harbour tomorra:

So, you could either spectate or avoid like the plague

http://www.qhmportsmouth.com/index.p...ous=27&art=511

Sir Robin’s yacht Saga Insurance will be at Outer Spit Buoy at 1130 where he will drop his sails and towed up the channel into Portsmouth Harbour. He will be escorted by QHM, 7 of the Clipper 68’ yachts, media, spectator boats and a flotilla of private boats and well wishers

I'm disappointed. After Jimbos rather audacious driving I thought there would be in some better pics than this. This is the only one I can find that we are (just about) in - we are the black boat on the far right.
