Mike @ Whitham Glass Fibre

Collected my Searider from Mike this morning and I was gobsmacked with the finish.

After a great first summer, i noticed some filler dropping out, and the forum massive all suggested that I as was in the north, Mike was the man.

They were right, a pleasure to deal with and as straight and honest a man as i have ever had the pleasure of dealing with.

He looked at the boat, recommended a very cost effective repair bearing in mind the age of the boat and you can hardly tell where Mike has been.

Mike, thanks again. brilliant job.

All good to hear, and there's never been less than high praise for him, both in terms of his workmanship and as a person. Never met him, only phone calls, but next week (ish) I'm taking my Osprey Viper down to see him so he can work his magic. Going for a total hull refurb including spray job plus the addition of extra jockey seats. I'm under no illusion when I say I'm expecting a 'brand new' hull back ! Really really can't wait !!!

(See my bench seat for sale in Bits and Pieces !)

I drove up from the South Coast a few years ago to deliver my trailer, console and to discuss layout options for my 6.2m Osprey he was building. As everyone has said, great bloke to speak to, his Dad even kept the cups of tea flowing. As I understand it, they used to make Ice Cream van bodies years ago.

Sounds like a good contact what does he do ? Is it boat, engine and trailer or does he specialise?

Yeah, he's a Master of Fiberglassing. But he builds Osprey RIB hulls, seats and consoles, so knows his stuff about what works and what doesn't with this make.

Got my Osprey Viper back today from Mike's. Full hull refurb plus seating took a wee bit longer than expected (due to a very busy time for Mike) but I'm absolutely delighted, well worth the wait. For 21yrs old she looks like new, in my eyes anyway !!! The man's a genius.

Just need to put everything back together now.
Next in the queue is this beauty, due some prep for the upcoming Round Scotland.

The BLACK HAWK went all the way up from Berlin to Mike for a deep bilge modification and another few minor things .
Cannot wait to get her back !

He is a real magician regarding fiberglass work !

Also met Mr Whitham Snr when I was there. He built the hull in 1994 and was really chuffed to see her again. His quote was 'obviously I built the bloody thing too well if it's lasted this long !'. 😃
