Mirror, Signal, Manoeuvre!

New toy just turned up at the Dry Stack! So I'm wondering, does an RYA level 2 now have to include elements of the driving test??

I've seen one of those at Studland, scares the daylights out of the holiday makers as it emerges from the water!

..... 'Course they've been around for a while, and yes .. I wouldn't mind one .. but I wondered, is it quite unstable on the hard ? say you had some shallow rocks in the sand or such like causing it to pitch over ?

I thought the same Bigmuzz, but actually when you see it in the flesh it looks pretty stable! Mind you, if I have ocassion to be face down in the mud one day I might give you a call.

These things are V expensive (up to £100K), but if you are rich enough to have a house that fronts the beach (not me), I guess that's not over the top!

Just remind me, what night is the Euromillions????

One on the menai strait just by bridges, makes you wonder what's in your pint as it drives across the Gazelle Hotel car park, down the beach and off! Not cheap mind!!!!!! You could have a lot of other things.

Correct

It is probably neither here nor there if you have a good slip but it would take so much hassle out of venturing further afield especially with low-gradient beach launches - there are places I would like to launch that I simply can't as I would need to put the vehicle 20 yards out in the salt water to get the boat off.

So would you need a Boat trailer or a Car trailer to transport that thing with?

Modified Flatbed trailer - you drive it on and sit it down on a fitted cradle of some sort, they are aluminium by the way.

That is how they do it in England, around here they just drive them home - no MOT.

Certainly removes the hassle of putting down a back anchor for picnics - as you simply drive up the beach. The wheeled drive system is powered by an air-cooled 24hp Honda engine. Sounds like a Trabant in the youtube videos - but not the company promotional ones where a sound-track has been added.

I can confirm that it is not possible to sneak up on anyone when using the air-cooled motor.
