Missing HIN plate on my Osprey

Has anyone any idea how to get a replacement HIN plate, Insurance company wont pay out in the event of a claim unless they have the details on file that is on the plate.

Not worried about it till now, but insurance renewal just come in and they highlighted the fact the details hadn't been given and after quick phone call they confirmed they would only pay out on engine, trailer and electronics but not in the event of any claim concerning hull or hitting anything

Anyone had any problems?

Mike

If the boat is older than circa 96 then it won't have one....

(will check out the exact time when the HIN was required.....)

The exact date is June 16th 1998. Before then it will not have a HIN number.

To clarify is it the HIN number or the CE plate....?
This HIN number?

Or this CE plate...?

If it had one and then it was lost then I reckon the best thing to do will be to contact Roy, he will be the only one able to sort you out. I will also PM you something else that may help (If I can find it! )

just make your own number up and keep it safe until you get plate and put your made up number on it and you will be insured

As long as you get the manufacturer code and country right, there shouldn't be too much issue.

the 2 first letters = code of the country
the 3 other letters : code of the manufacturer (MIC : Manufacture Identification Code)
the 5 other letters (letters and digits) = Serial number of the boat.
the next 2 letters: Month of construction.
the next 2 digits: Year of construction.

ive had mine about 2 to3 years with my own made up number and no probs its better to have a number than not have one at all which you can put on your osprey in all sorts of places at least if it gets nicked you know where the numbers are if it gets recoverd

it should be in port side where the A frame bolts down, do you have a hatch here? get a torch in bet ya there is one,
all gary 's (boat and jetski world) or most of them never had a plate on them as he did not want to pay royalties, another story to be told there,,
