Missing the Winter.

Never thought I'd say this but I'm starting to miss the winter already.

So even though the weekend just gone will be a memory for a long time and
its great to be in T Shirts and Shorts again and not freeze to death when you get wet. For me a RIB on smooth water seems a bit of a waste.

It would be nice to get a few big rollers to play in and to watch the spray fly away from the boat.

I even enjoyed my Ice cold pint of beer sat outside the pub in February as I cooled down from sweating in the drysuit.

It was also good to have the pontoons to yourself and not be pestered for a fiver for 30 minutes stay. The sea also looked a lot bigger with those white horses being whipped off the tops of the waves and barely another boat in sight. Now you have to be constantly watching out for yachts careering all over the place and hunt for a place to tie up.

So heres a piccie from the cold months to remind us all why we have RIBs.

I agree, my first experiences of ribs were in the solent mid winter when I did my PB2 with RW.

The summer is nice for family trips which are fun but part of me just wants to get some wave action.

Come and play with us mid Channel, there were some flaming big rollers off Pte de Raz yesterday

You should have a day down in Weymouth, We may have mirror flat water in the bay but 9 out 10 times there is still plenty of BIG rollers off Portland Bill to play with. I suppose that in Weymouth area we are lucky as in that we have the best of both world's all year round

That one was -it was a bit wetter in the one we were in

Good practice recovering it back onto the Bourbon though...

Hi,

It's one of a number contracted to the French navy for rescue, salvage and pollution work - same as the UK Coastguard tugs really. Dubious honour of having towed the Napoli.

The Bourbon is based out of Brest, with the Libertie based out of Cherbourg. Our predecessor, the Flandre, is now based out of Toulouse.

Superb ship in every way! Norwegian built though, that upset the French

So did NELSON at TRAFALGAR but i can still sleep at night

. Those Norwegians know how to build some very sea worthy boats with nice lines not just steel floating boxs like most you see. I bet doing the tow on the Napoli was an interesting job.
