More fun in Bournemouth

Answered a call from Portland Coastguard on Sunday to provide a tow for a 14ft speed boat that had fuel problems.

The boat had been washed up on Bournemouth beach, not the worst place to be ship wrecked, and was looking for a tow back to Poole.

As expected the people in the boat had no life jackets, no VHF , no anchor and no knowledge.

But this was even better in that once the life guards floated the boat and I had it in tow , with the owner on board, it turns out that he had a broken leg with pins in it. !!!!

To use a superlative most often associated with JF; what a tw*t.

Anyway we towed back at 25knts, faster than his boat had done before and threw him in at Baiter Park.

Don't spose u know any more about that guy that was killed off of Bournemouth peir that Sunday do you ?

I had asked for the Police boat "Alarm" to escort me in as there was a lot of traffic in Poole harbour entrance. After we got through the entrance they carried on their duties.

As for the guy killed I've heard nothing.

Regards

He was killed at 6pm on sunday, the guy was swimming 300metres out from the shore beyond the swimming channel, which is insane considering how busy it was out there that sunday. Some guy didn't see him and smacked him one, the guy has now been arrested for charges of man slaughter.

There all sorts of people beyond the yellow markers and the lifeguards were telling them to move in. As it happens I was asked to drag the boat off the beach and refused because of the 100’s of people swimming in that area.

As the guy was in no danger I just told them ( Portland CG ) it was too much hassle and asked that the lifeguard rib or jet ski bring him out to me.

A friend of mine was hit, while spearfishing ( with divers flag ), just outside Poole harbour a couple of years ago. He was airlifted to hospital with back and neck injuries. The speedboat was chased but disappeared near Christchurch.
