Tim, I think charts of some kind (gps/backup gps/charts) as I'd be lost without them .

Non-essential kit which travels with me is the credit card in case there's a sale in Cowes or Gunwharf

missus

Essential:

- Charts/ maps & compass.

- Extra fuel & and an extra fuel line.

- Knife & a small sharpening rod

- An absolutely reliable, submersible fire starting device/system that does not require fine dexterity (matches therefore do not qualify)

- Completely waterproof bags for sleeping bag(s) & extra warm clothes

- Extra rope, tie downs & carbiners.

- Tarp or tent.

Non - Essential, but still really really important (in no particular order, but any 1 makes the other 2 that much better)

- Camera

- Dark Beer in cans or plastic bottles (preferably a good stout)

- Attractive companion

VHF has got to be the most important; covers pretty much all situations (if need be).

Knowledge of your craft and its systems
Basic tools inc a sharp knife
For those of us with 2-strokes older than an e-tec, a plug spanner and a spare set of plugs.
VHF

Least essential

My Jolly Rodger

Nasher.

No thats me signing off, I'm not saying I'm on the least essential list.
