motor size

i just got my new boat yesterday. i need to get a new motor, my boat is rated for up to a 40hp and 167lbs i have been looking at a 1997 evinrude 25hp 3 cylinder 2-stroke. it weights 160lbs would this be fine on this boat. the boat is a zodiac 380r 12.5ft long.

I find Zodiac's being overpowered compared to same size other brands models. A 25 HP engine will perform satisfactorily if not going for max stated passenger or carrying load capacity. Use to run a 380 sib with a 2 strokes Tohatsu 18 HP,which performed very well with up to 3 total mates.
