Calm down Diggy, their website lists a 2-way system for £445. I asked for a 3-way system with VHF interface to work with my Gecko helmets. The guy replied saying they can only offer that in Mill spec, time will tell, i've replied asking which part of my request makes it expensive!

Can you be more specific and advise how many persons you expect to wear the Gecko helmets at any one time ie how many units you want on your rib and what do you expect from the system
Andre
PS have you spoken to Derek

Hi Andre,
OK 2 persons wearing 2 helmets, each with own unit. They need to be able to communicate with eachother and also be connected to the VHF.
Sorry, have not spoken to Derek yet will do it on Wed as my son has his Birth Day and we are now selebrating it for 2 days (today and tomorrow 48 hour party thing he wanted .... and my head hearts )
PS As I see it is quite easy. Each has own VHF on his belt with dual wach connected to the helmet thingies and they talk on say channel 71 and monitor also channel 16. Can't think why on earth this set up is so expenssive.

If they are connected on the main VHF on the boat is an ICOM 401, however if they have their own I will get 2 either M21 or M27.

if each have their own radio then this is not an intercom system just straight forward connection to the radio

Never tried them on a boat but they are the dogs B.. for a bike, however they only work up to 80 mph so may not suit high speed Falcon owners living in southern Europe who like sitting on there ribs drinking Vino Colapso without wearing a life jacket.

Manos, Graytronics offer a system that will meet your needs off the shelve for under £500... although expensive we are talking marine, low quantity electronics here. I dobout many, or any, of the components will be made in the far east and this price is a fair one for a UK made product. You won't find it cheaper, i've been looking for something for months, unfortunatly their off-the-shelve product does not meet my needs.
I have e-mailed them to check that this product will work with a Geko helmet.

Daniel is that the £450 per set? Still £900 is quite a lot of money.
If it was £500 for both it would have been OK.
I think that the sircuits etc must come from the Far East. I suppose that they assemble them here and labour is expenssive so these things are expenssive. But in all fairnes it seems to me that they are expenssive everywhere.
Have emailed a friend who lives in Singapore to see if he can find anything around that part of the World. Who knows.

Daniel I said that £500 each set is too expenssive. I said that all allong in previous threads.
Quote:
Daniel you are correct have looked at the prices on their site about £450.00/helmet I think.
I cannot believe that there is no one that makes cheaper systems.
May be in the US. These things cannot cost that much. The material is made in Taiwan for Goodness Sake

If is made in Singapore and is guranteed and works why not? I would have prefered to get one form here but if they cost the earth I will not. I cannot believe that an intercom is more expenssive than a hand held top of the range waterproof ICOM VHF. Just don't believe it.
As a business the rescue RIB is just an expence and is not a money earner. So all and any expences for it is just not recoverable what so ever and need to be very carefull on how I spend the money for this boat.

Copy of the most recent e-mail, looks like their website is out of date:
Hello Daniel,
Thank you for your E Mail.
Our situation at the moment is that we have had to stop production of our low cost powerboat type intercom because we have to fulfill contracts for military and commercial customers like the MOD, RNLI,etc.
We are likely to be somewhat overstretched for the next few months to come but do intend to go back into the Leisure market with some new products in the not too distant future.
Unfortunately we can only offer the kit i described yesterday.
Regards,
Dave Houghton
