As per the freebie comment. RIB International ofcourse will be doing a write up on their own event! But Hugo as my father will using the Avon Searider, supplied by BHG. The craft that was originally used.
Ribquest as a newly bought company would like to promote their new models. Also for my own personal use and research I would like to see how it fares against the Ribcraft and other good makes, that are well proven. Therefore Yes this boat has been supplied, very kindly sponsored for the event.
Just like the RB4, the RS4 is a challenge just to prove what small boats are capable of. It is not a race to feed ego, more the thrill of using a small boat in big seas, seeing some of the UKs best and most dramatic coastline. I could think of many worse things to do with my time. I think the boat so far looks very good, and look forward to taking part, in what seems a fun event.

That was very clearly and tactfully said, it sounds like it should be a great time. Kudos!

Ignore the green eyed monsters Tom (as I am sure you already do) I think your old man has done a lot to raise the profile of RIBs and I think the magazine is about as impartial as it can be without committing commercial suicide.
Good Luck!... I was on the list but sadly can't attend this time, maybe next year.

Can't speak for anyone else, but no jealousy here.
It's nice to know if someone has a commercial interest when they start posting reviews though. Just puts it into context

The RB4 meant 4 meters being less than 5 meters. That is why there were RibCraft 4.8 m boats taking part. I presume RS4 is based on the same principal. Personally I think there's an enormous difference between a 4m and a 4.8m RIB but then I don't suppose they can be too restrictive if they want anybody to take part !

It's not just an illusion either, 20% longer will translate roughly to approximately 40+% extra deck area and maybe 70% in overall volume! Those relatively small changes in length have a signifiicant multiplying effect on the other dimensions - the more so on boats where you use the internal space.

My New Rib
Just seen this rib at Ribquest stand at Southampton Boat show, looks well. The other bigger boat which also went round Scotland is on the water at Southampton "for rides" so if you want to see for yourself??
