Also added the 2 Flexible Avon Fuel tanks i had, gives me another 50 Litres for the longer runs and another access hatch at the rear of the consol.

Dropped the engine a hole hopefully for a faster turn, before it was slightly breaking out if turned all the way in choppy waves!!

heading out to try on sunday so hopefully the weather will be nasty!!

Matt
hope all goes well for you at w/end. As a Ribcraft owner of some years I do agree with you re the helm can you advise the make and no as I was going to change as I am awaiting the hellish feeling of holding a circle in my hand one of these days. Re the flexible tanks are they better than jerries?
Regards
J

cheers Jambo, I bought mine from the states as was alot cheaper, its just called the Teleflex Big T helm (3.5 turns to lock) and you will need the Metal 2 piece bezel, and screw on cable adapter as shown in picture 1 and picture 3.. it spreads the footprint on the dashboard and its all metal, heavier but much easier to operate.the small picture is the helm i mistakenly put on, it was a Telflex safe T No Feedback NFB 3.5 turns to lock, which with the clutch inside made it tougher to operate.

The Teleflex Big-T helm is for use with inboards on boats up to 34' (10.3m), using single or dual stations.

3 turns to lock
Standard 3/4" tapered steering shaft
2-piece metal bezel for 90 deg. or 20 deg. helm mount
Price: £134.99
Quantity:

01792 480490
reckon they have advertised this to cheap, it should be priced at around £180 mark!!

ref the fuel bladder tanks, fuel is stored on the side of the tubes rather than metal jerry cans taking up a load of room and knocking around on the gel coat, ive alway found then easy to fill up (bit like filling up a hot water bottle) when full they go kinda rigid.

The boat looks amazing Matt!Did you add the foot loops yourself?
Also what are the two plastic sheets down the inside of each tube?

They're the fuel bladders - some people call them flexitanks. They're basically thick bag which store fuel in a much more space-freindly way compared to plastic jerries!

Matt - I'm surprised you are adding fuel tanks and new steering to a brand new boat that was custom built for you... ...did you know when you bought it that the steering wouldn't be up to the job, or discover afterwards? what did Ribcraft think about it? And could RC not put extra fuel tank(s) under the deck somewhere for you rather than the flexible ones?

From what I can see he bought the hull and console. He has then fitted the console out himself, hence the new steering.
I think the bladders are good, no need for under deck or bulky fuel tanks on deck.

the extra fuel tanks are for longer distance stuff, i have a 70 litre tank under the deck, which gives me a total of 120 liters,i can take the bladders out within a minute.... the Big t steering system is far better for heavier useage, the standard helm is fine for standard useage if you know what i mean, it was my choice to put int the first helm unit

Looks slightly kinky!!
It would also be very funny, (for me at least) to watch the other 2 on the boat as we bump over waves with a stream of pee pee shooting from my suit!!

Hi math you have a very nice looking boat! Wonderfull!

But a have a question, why is there no plug between the bottem and the deck for losing water? http://rib.net/forum/attachment.php?...7&d=1258731537

How dow you get rid of the water in the anchor locker?

ribcraft 5.0

Hi there, welcome to Rib net!!

Thanks for the compliments, In the anchor locker there is a drain that goes to the stern on the boat which ends up in the bilge,on the small bulkhead in the bilge there is a large brass screw which drains of water internal water, also i have a rule 1100 pump to get rid of the excess water, and the large blue elephants trunk will drain off large amounts of water. i have completely filled the boat and it drains off within 30 seconds or so

i think so, i really did have a look around the market place and could not find what i was looking for, I didnt even think the 5 mtr existed until i read a write up of a new hull that was in the design room.i realised the mag was 5 months old and headed straight down there and saw a completed one.. it ticked all the boxes in the right place anyway, 177 kgs is the max weight.mine weighs in at 120kgs

Hi matt,

Why not something bigger than the RC585? I mean the difference in length with youre RC5 is quite small...
